Ellie Jane Goulding grew up in England, Hereford. She was born on the 30th day of December in 1986. Her mother Tracey Goulding-Summers worked at an ice cream shop and her father Arthur Goulding was a member of an undertaker's family. Goulding's younger sister Isabel and her younger sister Jordan are children. Alex is her brother. Alex her brother plays bass as well as a part of an Hereford group. At the age of a young girl, her mom inspired her to become a musician. She began to learn the clarinet at age nine. In her 14th year she began writing music.
